An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) or defibrillator (but not, as the sign suggests, a 'defribrillator'!) is a life saving device that can help save the life of someone experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. They are easy to use, portable, with clear step-by-step instructions so anyone can use them, from a bystander to a trained professional.
Funds raised by the local community paid for an AED for Diptford, which is available 24 hours a day in a cabinet outside the village school.
You do not need medical training to use it: the AED provides clear spoken instructions and visual indications of what to do. Do not hesitate to use it if you think that it may save someone's life: every minute counts in cases of cardiac arrest.
